Can you convert each color of the rainbow to its corresponding value on a grayscale? What about the reverse? That's what the Adult Painting class has been up to with these pure pigment animal paintings!
Our Yen Yen Lo inspired bells are almost complete! After a few touchups and some assembly they will be ready to go! Instead of ceramics and glazes, we simplified b using Air dry clay and acrylic paint for this project.
The Monet Tulip Fields paint night last Friday was a creative success! Mothers and daughters painted side by side, filling their canvases with colorful fields and flowers to take home! Thank you to all who came and made this such a fun event! I hope you left feeling a little bit more like Monet! Just practicing some Monet with my husband to prepare for our Monet Tulip Fields painting workshop coming up this Friday, April 6 at 6:30 pm!
Reserve your spot at: https://www.hisawyer.com/the-art-nook/schedules/activity/camp/318933 Help us welcome in the season with your own version of this beautiful Springtime scene! A new project is in the works! Painting students are using pure pigments to create value while referencing a black and white image of their favorite pets! A great way to study the light and dark value of each color!
After six weeks of intense focus and determination, the Painting class has finished their first still life paintings! I love seeing the progress from start to finish. First they drew their scenes from life, then began their underpainting, and continued to build their values, tones, shadows, and highlights until voilá! Finished paintings! (Maybe we will do the flowers another time.) :) I would say these look pretty amazing for first time ever still life paintings!
